HOW
DO I ?
REGISTER WITH PRACTICE ?
At the time of your first visit to the surgery, you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and an appointment will be arranged for you to have a simple health check with one of the practice nurses (please remember to bring a urine sample with you to this appointment).
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT ?
Appointments may be arranged for Central Surgery by telephoning us on Prestatyn (01745) 886444 between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
Our receptionist will endeavour to give you an appointment at the earliest opportunity, usually within 48 hours. At certain times, eg during holidays, routine appointments with individual doctors may take longer than this to arrange. If the appointment you are given seems too long to wait, please indicate this to the receptionist and she will try to give you another appointment with another doctor or nurse.
If you have a problem which can be dealt with under our health promotion programmes, please indicate this to the receptionist, who will offer you an appropriate appointment. Appointment waiting times are subject to weekly evaluation and our aim is to ensure that there are always routine appointments available within three working days for our patients.
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT ?
On average, visiting you at home takes four
times as long as seeing you at the surgery. Please try to help us to save time
by keeping home visits to a minimum. If you are not well enough to come to the
surgery, please try to telephone us on Prestatyn (01745) 886444 before 10.30am
as this will help the doctors to plan their rounds. Please be patient; we have
a queuing system on the phone and there may be a delay before your call is answered.
Do not replace your receiver. As long as the line is not engaged your call will
be dealt with.
The receptionist may ask you for your telephone number
as sometimes all that is necessary is for the doctor to give you advice.
Babies and small children can often be brought to the surgery where we will
endeavour to see them promptly. If transport is difficult please think of calling
a taxi before asking for a visit - this may be quicker.
REPEAT
PRESCRIPTIONS
Regular medication is more easily dealt
with on a repeat prescription basis. For this the doctor or receptionist will
record all your medication on the computer at Central Surgery resulting in a new
medication print-out being generated each time. Most prescriptions are subject
to annual review. Your doctor may request that you attend the surgery to discuss
your continuing medication needs.
Repeat prescriptions may be obtained
by:
- Making arrangements with a local chemist to order your prescription,
and your medication can be collected directly from the chemist. This is the method
we recommend. This takes three working days including the Pharmacy's time.
- Handing in the computer-issued slip at Central Surgery
using the repeat prescription box in reception rather than waiting at the counter
unnecessarily. The prescription may be picked up any time during our normal working
hours from Monday to Friday.
- Posting the request to Central Surgery
including a stamped addressed envelope when we will be pleased to return your
prescription to you.
To guarantee your request, please allow at least two working days.
For the residents of Ffynnongroew and the surrounding area, we are able to offer a collection and delivery service from our surgery in the village.
Repeat prescriptions are also available from Meliden Surgery.
